Workplace Skills Assessment Programs (WSAP)
The WSAP Competitive Events program is the BPA’s cornerstone program. Students prepare for and compete in contests in 72 events, under the four pathways of Finance, Information Technology, Administrative Support, and Management/Marketing/Human Resources. Students in most states begin with a regional competition. The top qualifiers compete at State conference, and finally, those deemed the best of the best compete at the National Leadership Conference in late spring of each year. Competitions range from individual to team, from objective tests to on-the-fly scenarios to judged presentations. Each event helps prepare students to be part of a world-class workforce. Qualifying for competition at the National Leadership Conference and winning an award there is one of the most treasured accomplishments of a BPA member’s career, and demonstrates a mastery of an event’s applicable skills.
Members compete at regional conferences in late fall or winter, at State conferences in winter or early spring, and at the National Leadership Conference in early May. Each BPA State has its own rules and qualifications for competing and qualifying for competition at the National Leadership Conference.
The WSAP Guidelines are a comprehensive set of instructions, descriptions, and details to help prepare for WSAP competitions. The guidelines are an essential tool for participating in a WSAP event.
